Christmas 2009

The Eternal Christ - John 1:1-5

Christmas Background

John did not introduce the world’s Saviour as a baby in his Gospel. He went back to eternity past to declare that Jesus’ life did not begin at Bethlehem. We rightly call Him the eternal Christ. His birth in the manger only marked the beginning of His brief earthly A not found in the other Gospels: The Word. John is telling us that in Jesus, God the Father expressed His thoughts and feelings toward mankind to the fullest extent. Whatever we want to know about God can be found by looking at Jesus. He is the Word who expresses the deepest thoughts and feelings of the Father’s heart.

John next gave attention to the special identity of the Word. He has a special relationship with God, for He was “with” Him in the beginning. The Word was not just with God but was God. Notice that He did not become. He was. And this was from the beginning-from all eternity.

Furthermore, the Word, the eternal Christ, is Creator. Look as far as you wish in the universe and you will find nothing He did not create.

Most importantly, He is the Source of life. If we would live eternally we must come to Him. If we would walk in spiritual light instead of darkness, we must turn to Christ.

In coming to earth, Jesus did not merely shine on the darkness. He moved right into the midst of it and shone through it. There are two possible mean- ings to verse 5 and both express what John is saying. Those who live in spiri- tual darkness cannot understand the light that is in Jesus, for the natural mind does not “comprehend” it. This expression may also mean that the darkness could notovercome the light. This too is gloriously true. The world has never been darkerthan it is today, but the light of the gospel still shines. Through the centuries, Christ’s enemies have tried unsuccessfully to extinguish His light. It is still burning and always will.

"Christmas reminds us again that our Saviour is God, the all-powerful Lord and Creator. He is to be not only loved, but worshiped. In Him alone is the complete revelation of God."  -Kenneth D Barney Rev. Philip and Annie Madhavan

May the Joy and Peace
that we received by faith in Christ
be with you at this Christmas and throughout
the New Year

 Foundation Laying

Masih ki jai -- Praise the Lord

After waiting, praying, planting 5 daughter churches it was time for us to begin the construction of the New Sanctuary. On Monday May 25, the main foundation was laid and the 1st stage of the building began. It is expected that the 1st stage will be completed in 6 weeks.

The foundation laying ceremony was the most exciting event for all of us. Many years of dream becoming reality. It was a historical event at Kinoya Assembly.

We serve a living, loving and a miracle working God.
